We were delighted to hear that the world premiere of the opera R.U.R. A Torrent of Light was the WINNER OF SIX 2022 DORA MAVOR MOORE AWARDS! Hurrah!

We were so pleased to once again work alongside the brilliant and award winning scenic and projection designer Cameron Anderson to do set construction, structural engineering, carpentry, and scenic painting for this stark and futuristic sci-fi inspired opera set designed by for R.U.R. A Torrent of Light at Tapestry Opera in Toronto, Canada.

This two-story opera set features practical stairs supported by a steel superstructure and Hollywood flat construction, with integrated projection screens and monitors. Fully engineered to be modular for international shipping and load-in through 64” wide double doors.

The world premiere for this opera adaptation was inspired by Karel Čapek’s 1920’s science-fiction play Rossum’s Universal Robots - which introduced the work “robot” to the world.
